How do I “quick stop” a flow for sending out information? Emergency Stop!¶
When you have a flow that sends out information such as e-mail or sms, (may also be other “dangerous” actions) and want to quickly stop the flow to perform these operations. The fastest and most effective way is to deactivate the entire flow. Then everything stops. You disable the flow by opening flow settings and clicking the “Active” flag.
The action you really want to stop is the “email” action above. But once you have stopped the entire flow, you can, in peace and quiet, disable the right action in different ways.
March below setting the action. It is both set to “Auto” (flash) execution and scheduled eg weekly. This action can thus be run in two different ways.
- Via Auto, ie when the operation is automatically executed after the above has been completed. (A flow can be started both through another scheduling or that it is triggered from outside.) Auto runs regardless of whether the action has a different execution.
- The action is also run via the scheduling set for this particular action. This can be considered a loophole. Therefore, it may be wise in this particular case to click out “Auto” for this particular action. Then only the action is run through its own scheduling.
To stop this particular action you can either:
- Disable the action by unchecking the “Active” flag in the action.
- Click in the “Pass through” flag that allows the participants to pass through it only, without anything being executed against the participants. In this way, the participants and the flow can move further below this action.
When you feel confident that the action is disabled on any of the above alternatic, you can calmly and safely reactivate the flow through flow settings.
